Nr. 8033
Date: 2014.VI.16.
To all local authorities of Covasna county
Attn. of the mayor and the secretary of the settlement
Today, on the 10th of March 2014, Szeklers who have gathered at the Postarét in Marosvásárhely, at the Monument of the Szekler Martyrs, with the representatives of the Hungarian communities expressing their solidarity, walking on the road of law and democracy, we hereby unanimously express our will: We demand the territorial autonomy of Szeklerland! Today, all those who have understood the message of the Day of the Szekler Freedom, do likewise all around the globe. In the past years we have made it clear that for today’s Szeklers this occasion is not only about common reminiscence, but also about togetherness, and about the claiming of rights: about the conscious and conjoined action for the sake of national self-determination.
We, the undersigned residents of Canada and representing over 315,000 Canadians of Hungarian origin, draw the attention of the Government of Canada to the following:
WHEREAS:
28 October, 2013
The Brussels HUNINEU office for the European Representation of Hungarian National Communities, the Alliance of Hungarians in Belgium, and the Committee for Human Rights in Central Europe herewith express their view in this joint statement, in which they support the objectives of the Grand March of the Szeklers held on 27 October 2013, organized by Szekler National Council in cooperation with and in unison with all the Hungarian political forces, and numerous civil organisations in Romania.
Today, on the 27th of October 2013, Szeklers who have gathered between Bereck and Kökös, with the support of Hungarians of Transylvania and the Carpathian-Basin expressing their solidarity, being aware of the supporting manifestations of the Hungarian communities all around the globe, hereby strengthen their historical claim expressed on the Szekler National Assembly in Gyergyóditró: they would like to implement the right to self-determination, and according to this right they demand the self-governance of Szeklerland within the host country!
Today, on the 10th of March, 2013, we, the Szeklers gathered on the Postarét (Post Meadow) of Marosvásárhely/Targu-Mures in continuation of the traditions of the Szekler National Assemblies, and the representatives of the sympathizing Hungarian communities of Transylvania, declare: we demand territorial autonomy for Szeklerland!
Dear Mr. Secretary General,
During the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, a Hungarian representative asked you: whether you stand up for the autonomy aspirations of the Szeklers in Romania? In your answer you replied, that you are not aware of the particular Romanian situation, but you stand up for every minority, in general. These sentences are of great importance for us, and we remember, that you also said: “We have to make sure, that everyone abides by the Framework Convention”.
