After the submission of the European Citizen’s Initiative of the Szekler National Council on the protection of regions possessing national, linguistic, cultural characteristics, we find it important to note:
1. The citizen’s initiative, even if successful, will be considered as only one chapter of a European movement, which has to be initiated through the collaboration of these regions. The movement has to foster the close cooperation of these regions, has to create the full and effective equality among the European regions, as well as the institutional framework for equal opportunities, and the conditions of the sustainability of the regional cultures.
2. The theoretical foundation of the movement is the equality of big and small nations, as set out in the Charter of the United Nations, and the common constitutional heritage of the member states of the European Union. The movement has to raise awareness in every citizen of Europe, that having respect for the fundamental values, and protecting the cultural diversity of the Union is only achievable in the long run, if the equality of the European peoples wins universal recognition, regardless of the fact whether or not the communities describing themselves as peoples, or nations established their on states, or live on the territory of another country, as an autochthon community.
3. Members of the Permanent Commission of the Szekler National Council ensure that the English translation of this resolution reaches the representatives of all those European communities and peoples, who have a direct interest in initiating a movement for the protection, and the free and stand-alone development of national regions.
