The serious crisis precipitated in South Ossetia proved again that lasting peace and stability can be achieved only with the consistent application of the democratic principles laid down many times by the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe and the international community is responsible for the vindication of these principles.
The people of Abkhazia and South Ossetia have the right for self-determination, the right to decide about their own future. The instrument to express this right is the referendum which is confirmed in the recommendation nr. 1811/2007 of the Council of Europe reffering to the regionalisation.
The task and the responsibility of the international organisations is to impede the member countries to use force, weapons and violence against their own citizens and to assure that these countries are respecting their commitments regarding the human rights. It was proved again that the issue of the collective community rights is a worldwide security policy question.
The Szekler National Council uses the means of democracy and law in his fight for the self-determination of Szeklerland inside the state. It is the responsibility of the international community as well that these means to become effective in the process of the vindication of the interests of different national communities.
Institutional guarantees are necessary for the establishment of the rights of the people without a state in order to assure that their simple existence to be an element of the lasting peace and not a security risk.
